Privacy and cookies
Play without an account
Gubbrunda can be used without registering an account. Players choose their own names or use the game’s suggestions. You can use nicknames instead of full names.
Local storage and digital sessions
Your browser stores game state, settings and results locally so the game can work and be resumed. Your consent choice is also saved in the browser’s local storage.
In digital mode, information such as player names, avatar choices, roles, challenges, confirmations and votes passes through the network service used for the session. The site can use Cloudflare Realtime, Supabase or PeerJS/WebRTC depending on its configuration. Game information may be processed temporarily on servers and shown on other participants’ devices. It does not stay exclusively on one phone.
You can remove locally saved information by clearing the site’s browser data. This may also remove an ongoing round and saved results.
Avatar choices
Your avatar profile is saved locally as choices for features such as face, hair, colours and body proportions. When you use it in a digital round, these public choices accompany your player identity and can be included in the final result and a shared result link. The avatar uses a locally rendered model; it does not use a camera, facial analysis or uploaded portrait photographs. The separate avatar studio lets you try choices without saving them to your game profile.
Temporary chat and dictation
Chat messages are relayed in real time through the network service, but no chat history is saved on the server. Messages and unsent drafts exist only in memory in the open game pages. They are not written to browser storage, saved games, results or game logs. A reconnecting player can receive temporary history from participants who are still there. The chat disappears when the round ends or everyone leaves.
The microphone button only uses speech recognition that runs on your device. If the browser or language does not support this, use ordinary text input. A language pack may need downloading after you choose to enable it. Audio is not sent to Gubbrunda or a speech recognition server. The text becomes a draft for you to review and send yourself.
Photos and calls
Chat photos are resized and re-encoded on your device before sending, removing the original image metadata. Image content is relayed to connected participants and kept temporarily in memory; it is not saved in the game’s database or browser storage. A photo may need to be sent again after a page reload.
Voice and camera start only after your choice and browser permission. Calls use encrypted WebRTC, directly between devices or through Cloudflare TURN when needed by the network. We do not record calls. Cloudflare relays encrypted traffic and processes connection and usage information. To limit use, we store short-lived quota metadata and a monthly limit, not conversation content. You choose your own location label; this feature does not use GPS.
Shared results
With Cloudflare, a limited final result is stored in the temporary game room so participants can see it after the host leaves. It includes names, scores, avatar choices, role names and public round statistics, but no chat messages or secret challenges. The room and result expire no later than 24 hours after the room was created.
When you choose to share a result, the link contains result data such as player names, roles and scores. Anyone with the link can read that result. Share it only with people you want to give access to that information.
Traffic measurement and cookies
Google Analytics is used for traffic measurement if you approve it in the cookie settings. Usage information may then be sent to Google and analytics cookies may be used. You can change consent through the Cookies link at the bottom of the page. Playing does not require consent to traffic measurement.
Contact
The contact form opens a draft in your email application. Browser and game status can be added for support and bug reports. You can review and remove information before sending the email yourself.
