Choose something you actually appreciate
Suggested setup: one mission during 10–20 minutes of dinner. No equipment needed.
Wait for a natural pause and name an action or quality. “You make it easy for everyone to join the conversation” is more specific than “you’re the best”. Choose something you mean rather than a prepared line that does not fit the person.
The task is complete once you give the compliment. No particular reaction is required, and you do not need to reveal the mission. For an open variation, everyone gives one appreciation to the person on their left, taking turns.
