Conversation starter: a smell that brings back a memory
Choose an everyday association
Suggested setup: 4–8 people, about a minute per answer. There is no need to find anything to smell.
Start with a scent, such as fresh bread or rain on pavement, and connect it to a place or event. Share only what you want to share. One follow-up question is “What did you usually do there?”
If no memory comes to mind, describe a scent you enjoy today. Another variation uses a sound, such as a bicycle bell or coffee maker. There is no correct answer, and the stories do not need to be compared.
